Poetry Phriday - That Couple From the Fire Drill

On Poetry Phriday, the Politick and I each write a poem on the same topic but without knowing what the other person is writing about. This week's topic is: That Couple from the Fire Drill (we had one earlier this week).

That Couple from the Fire Drill
He stands to the side, favoring one leg, crutches held awkwardly under an arm
For long minutes he waits
Because she is there, holding his hand, whispering in his ear, gazing into his face
And he never questions whether it is worth it
Because he knows it is.
